Basketball Blessing

11/4/2015

Picture
To tipoff the 2015-16 basketball season, we will continue with our annual tradition of the Basketball Blessing. This is a special opportunity for our 230+ athletes and their families to receive a special blessing from Father Theo!

This year's basketball blessing will take place on SATURDAY, November 14, at the 5 p.m. mass. We ask that ALL players, parents, coaches and their families to attend wearing RED to show support and unity for the Athletics Ministry.

Keep in mind that collectively we will be playing more than 200 games "on the road" and the Basketball Blessing is a special celebration "at home." Let's make this a memorable, spiritual evening!

Please mark your calendar for Saturday, Nov. 14, at 5 p.m. And don't forget to wear RED!!!

We Need Senior Girls & Mite Boys

11/4/2015

We had a fantastic registration period this year, but we're in need of some more Senior Girls (ages 14-18) and Mite Boys (ages 7-8). Our Senior Girls team currently has 5 girls and our Mites Boys 1 team currently has 6 boys. There are also a few spots with some of our I-Mites teams (ages 5-6) as well.

If you know of boys or girls who may be interested in playing this year, please spread the word and have them submit a Waiting List entry at:

http://www.smmccsports.org/late-registration.html

The Waiting List is a first come, first serve system that we operate for all our age groups. If a roster spot comes available, we will make a fast appointment.

Need Service Hours?

11/4/2015

Teenagers and adults in need of service hours or just wanting to volunteer can help out the Athletics Ministry this weekend!

The hours are from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. this Saturday.

If interested, email [email protected].

We will be sorting through our existing basketball jersey inventory. Tasks involve sorting, inspecting, bagging and data entry.

The Season Begins...

11/4/2015

Games begin November 19-20. Seniors will play on Thursday, Nov. 19; Men will play Friday, Nov. 20; and all other age groups (I-Mites, Mites, Midgets and Juniors) will play Saturday, Nov. 21.

Take note: If your son or daughter participates in competitive soccer, the CESA Fall Classic takes place the same weekend. Please let your coach know if your son or daughter will miss the first game.

Celebration Mass – Nov. 24 – 6 p.m.

11/17/2013

This weekend a record 20 teams will tip-off the 2013-14 basketball season. On Sunday, November 24, Pastor Fr. Theo Trujillo will provide a special blessing for all our players and coaches.

The blessing will be held during the Lifeteen Mass at 6 p.m. All players are encouraged to wear their basketball jersey to mass.  We also ask all coaches and parents to also wear red or white.

Help make this a special celebration for our basketball program. Let's blanket the pews with our church's colors! How wonderful it would be to have not only the more than 190 athletes in attendance, but their families, as well, rock'n the red.

God Bless You and Your Family,

Frank B. Allgood
Athletic Director
