General Information: Volleyball 2023
In 2023, St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church brought volleyball back after a near 30-year absence. Two teams represented St. Mary Magdalene with us hosting our first ever home games on March 23, 2023. The volleyball program is coed and for high schoolers and adults – there is currently no volleyball program for youth.
Eligibility & Placement
1) Volleyball is for both men and women. All players must be at least 15 years of age. The age of high schoolers is based on age on March 1, 2023. There are no age requirements for adults.
2) Once an age group is full, players are placed on a waiting list until a new team is formed or space on an existing team becomes available.
3) In order to form a team, the team must meet a minimum roster requirement of eight players and have a Safe Environment-certified team manager.
4) There is no guarantee that an adult or a high schooler will be placed on a particular team or practice time.
5) Non-parishioners are welcome to play for St. Mary Magdalene, but may be required to be actively involved in St. Mary Magdalene and its programs, including fundraisers. All participants in our volleyball program are encouraged to participate in functions of the church. Non-parishioners that belong to another church should not have a volleyball program, or if they do, they are advised (not required) to get permission from their church.
7) Applications will not be fully processed without receipt of correct payment and the completion of all forms (Registration Form, Parental/Guardian Consent Form and Liability Waiver), which can be found in online registration.

2) St. Mary Magdalene ensures each team has a one-hour practice per week.
3) Practices are scheduled at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church on Wednesdays.
4) Practices may be scheduled as early as 6 p.m. and as late as 8:30 p.m.
5) Times, days and locations are subject to change.

1) All teams play 7-8 regular season games, beginning around the second week of March and ending around the first week of May.
2) All volleyball games are played on Thursday evenings.

Playoffs
1) All teams, regardless of regular season record, qualify for a single elimination playoff.
2) Playoffs may begin as early as one week following the conclusion of the regular season, and may take place on nights other than Thursday.

Uniforms
1) St. Mary Magdalene supplies each player with a jersey that is to be returned at the end of the season.
2) Players supply their own shorts (black).
3) For player that choose to wear an undershirt, it must be solid white, according to league rules.
4) The use of arm sleeves are permitted for medical purposes only, according to league rules.
5) Failure to return a particpant's jersey to the church by July 1, 2023 will result in a $40 replacement fee.

Team Managers
1) Without a team manager, there is no team. Please consider volunteering as a head or assistant team manager.
2) The responsibility of the team manager is to coordinate communication with the team, and to ensure everyone has fair, safe, fun play at practices and games.
